Hi and welcome back, as always, it’s great to have you here!
I’m your host Marie O’Neil, Author and creator of The 4-Step Formula To Reset Your Body-Mind System After Depression And Antidepressants.

Right now, as we all know, there’s a phenomenal amount of emotional chaos and turmoil sweeping the globe surrounding the Corona Virus [COVID-19].

There are so many uncertainties: Grocery stores are wiped out, cities are shutting down, people can no longer make an income, travel bans are in place – and entire countries are on complete lockdown.

So, it’s easy to see why there’s a huge rise of fear, mayhem and panic across the globe. All of our lives have been completely disrupted and forced into a state of upheaval.

These are truly unprecedented times.

So, how can you remain in the drivers seat of your life, when the entire world around you is spinning out of control?

How can you use this time of global lockdown to elevate your life and overcome depression?

Well, the first step is stop emotionally reacting to all the sensational television and media reports.

Because, here’s the deal…

When we overreact emotionally to what’s going on around us, we activate the amygdala within our brain, which triggers the fight/flight response, our Sympathetic Nervous System.

And, when our Sympathetic Nervous System (Survival System) gets activated, it puts additional stress on our system, weakens and runs down our immune system, leaving us MORE susceptible to the virus!

Which is the exact opposite of what we want or need right now!

So, to not leave ourselves MORE vulnerable and open for infection, we need to just stop, take a step back, turn off our televisions, stop scrolling our newsfeed and take this time for ourselves to actually build up and improve our immune system – not run it down – by following the media-driven hysteria.

Because, the facts are…

Yes, some people are dying. But, there are also thousands of people who are infected, who don’t have any major symptoms whatsoever. Because of these two extremes in outcome, there’s clearly something distinctive in the individual that decides their fate.

In other words, it’s the strength of the immune system of the individual person who gets infected, and not the virus alone, which dictates their fate.

So, how can you easily boost your immune system, so you remain healthy, resilient and strong during this time?

Well, one way is by simply, turning inward and asking yourself:

  • How can I best use this time to propel my life forward?
  • How can you best use this new found “free time” to best serve you?
  • How can you use it for your highest good?

Because, the truth is…

Even in a crisis, there’s a blessing. Even in the toughest of challenges, there are opportunities.

And, when we set up our mindset to start looking for the blessings instead of the curse, in every situation, we activate our Parasympathetic Nervous system.

This is the side of our nervous system which activates our internal healing response, which instantly boosts our immunity, making us more resilient through tough times and making us less susceptible to disease, infection, inflammation and depression.

Another positive way to use this time, is to just take a step back from all the chaos, find a quiet space, take a few long deep breaths and ask yourself:

  • How is this current crisis serving you?

For example; if you’re like the vast majority of us you’ve had a sudden change in your lifestyle or daily routine. Well, instead of getting frustrated and annoyed with what’s happening, how about you ask yourself:

  • How you can actually use this change in lifestyle or daily routine to your greatest advantage?

Why not use this enforced lockdown and isolation to simply turn inwards and think about what you truly want and need in your life?

Because, the truth is, many of us just don’t stop and ask ourselves these deeper questions.

We just go about our day, like a robot, on-the-go 24/7, and we don’t stop to ask ourselves if what we’re doing, if what we’re chasing, if what we’re investing our energy in everyday, is truly what we want or desire in our life…

…And, then we wonder why we’re not excited about life!

And, if you’re currently stuck in depression, you can be sure there’s (at least) one area of your life which is not in alignment with who you authentically are, it’s not in alignment with your genuine passion or natural drive.

It’s that area which is keeping all of your positive and uplifting energy locked down and de-pressed.

So, now the outside world has come to a near standstill, why not use this time as an opportunity to self-reflect and ask yourself these questions.

  • What do I really want and need in my life?
  • What would excite me in my life?
  • How can I best use this time to serve my highest good?

And, start to propel yourself forward.

This is not a time to be caught up in the chaos of fear and crushed!

This a time of self-reflection, reseting our priorities and making adjustments to start creating the life we want, the way we want it, when this storm passes and it will pass!

So, spend some time this week in self-reflection, look inwards, go through each and every area of your life:

  • Your relationships
  • Your health
  • Your finances
  • Your career or business
  • Your hobbies
  • Your spiritual outlook

Go through each area, really look at them and ask yourself:

  • Are they where you want them to be?
  • Are they even, what you want them to be?

If not, write down in detail on paper, how you want each area of your life to look once the storm passes…

And, once that’s complete, ask yourself:

  • What steps (no matter, how small) can I take today to start moving myself towards this uplifting vision of my life?

Because, here’s the deal…

This is a once in lifetime opportunity, we have right now!

Where the pace of life has quite literally slowed down enough for us to ‘catch our breath’ and just like everything in life, this too, shall pass.

So, it’s in our best interests to use this time to our advantage!

So, discover how can you use this precious period of time to propel your life forward and to elevate your life to the next level?

How can you use this enforced lockdown in a way that serves your highest good?

For example;

  • Maybe, it’s giving you the much-needed family time which your job didn’t allow?
  • Has your business been affected and now its time to think differently about how you do business? Maybe, its time to shift online?
  • Has this ‘time-out’ helped you recognise that your current job, career, business model, relationship, living situation, health or lifestyle choices, etc. are not working for you anymore?
  • Is it giving you the time you need to finally put yourself first and do whatever it takes to overcome depression?

Look within and find the gold in this crisis. And, please don’t try and force yourself to think positive right now, instead LOOK for the positives in your life. Be grateful for everything that you DO HAVE right now.

Do everything in your power to stay focussed on doing what’s most meaningful in your life.

And remember, everyday as we’re being constantly bombarded by fear from the media, from our family or friends, keep asking yourself:

Is this article, this video, this conversation positively serving me right now? Is it uplifting me or elevating my life? Is it boosting or depleting my immune system?

If not, instantly shift your focus onto something that best serves your highest good.

Don’t allow yourself to get swept up in the current of fear that’s sweeping the globe right now.

And, yeah! I do know that’s a challenge right now. You’re not alone in this.

Everyone is experiencing this, right now!

But, the power is always firmly within our hands. We CAN make a conscious choice to step out of the ‘current’ and step onto the shore.

Step out of the chaos and just stop and remind yourself, that this too, will pass.

Everything in life comes and goes. All pandemics, all epidemics, they all rise and fall, like the waves in the ocean.

And, if you can just resist the temptation to get swept up in the current of fear, you’ll keep yourself safe because your immune system will remain strong and resilient.

Remember, anytime we get caught up in the current of fear, panic, anxiety or worry it activates the amygdala in our brain, which then, activates the fight / flight response, our Sympathetic Nervous System (our Survival System).

And, the moment our Sympathetic Nervous System (our Survival System) gets activated our immune system gets weakened and we become more vulnerable to viruses, infections and disease, which is the exact opposite of what we want.

So, if you want to transform this chaos into calmness, use this time wisely by constantly focussing on how you can best use this new found “free time” to best serve you. How can you use this lockdown for your highest good?

  • Read, watch and listen to things that are inspirational and up-lifting
  • Eat well
  • Rest well
  • Think well
  • Follow government guidelines

That way, you’ll keep your immune system strong and yourself in the drivers seat of your life.

Focus on the solution and not-so heavily on the problems.

Keep yourself focused on what’s most meaningful in your life and you’ll come out the other side of this global crisis stronger, than you were before it started.

And, always remember:
