Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S2E19: Victor/Vicki-toria, which aired on February 14, 1987. In this episode Jamie pretends Vicki is a boy so she can play baseball. This was kind of a fun episode. It also felt like everything happened so fast. From Ted practically dislocating his arm while throwing a pitch to Reggie at the baseball diamond, practicing for Jamie's upcoming baseball tryouts. I was surprised that Ted even had time for Jamie at all. It always seems like he's so busy with either his job or wanting to go golfing. Jamie almost immediately thinks of adding Vicki to the baseball team, once he sees her pitch. The only problem is their coach is sexiest and doesn't allow girls on the team. So Jamie and Reggie dress Vicki up as Victor and of course they have to teach her all the ways of being a guy including strutting, hitting on girls and smacking other guys on the butt. Harriet is easily fooled when she pops in Jamie's window and sees Vicki as Victor and is so smitten she's willing to drop her obsessive love for Jamie and apply it to Victor. Total cringe moment for me. Luckily Ted and Joan see Vicki dressed as a boy and figure what Jamie's up to and put a stop to it. I gotta say, anyone with eyes or half a brain in their head can see putting a girl's hair up under a baseball cap, isn't going to fool anyone for long that Vicki is in fact a girl. I mean when we get to the baseball field her fall is practically falling out from underneath the baseball hat. The coach is a moron and desperate that's all I'll say. Jamie grows a conscience and is honest for once. That's basically it! I'll say this episode was not bad compared to some earlier weak sauce episodes of Season 2. Join me in August when I cover S2E20: Look Into My Eyes, which aired on February 21, 1987. In this episode Joan's high-school friend is not what Ted expects. Have a great rest of July and I'll see you in August.
