Ep 1 Libby the Wordsmith
Manage episode 313366506 series 3268213
‘Living with Ovarian Cancer’ is a Podcast full of inspiring stories told by Women or their loved ones, who themselves have lived with, or are still living with Ovarian Cancer.
Each Woman’s story is a gift, unique and is told from the heart in their own words.
I am your host, Diane Evans-Wood. In this episode I am talking to Libby Holden who shares her experiences since being diagnosed in 2013 with a rare form of Ovarian Cancer called ‘Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer’. Libby is an incredibly inspiring woman. She is a Wife, Mum, Landscape gardener and she writes some amazing songs and music with her Husband, John.
In this episode, Libby talks about the symptoms that led to a diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer and the subsequent confusion that often follows regarding pathology. She goes on to tell me about the major surgery she endured and the post-operative complications. Libby has had several courses of chemotherapy and describes how she coped as she lived through that period of time and where she is at now with her disease.
Content warning: we talk about how Libby feels about dying.
Libby shares some exciting news regarding a song that she wrote about what it’s like to live with recurrent cancer that could equally be applied to living with any constantly life-changing health condition. The song will be released in time for ‘Ovarian Cancer awareness month’ in March 2021 to raise funds for Professor Charlie Gourley who researches Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer.
Here is the link to John Holden, Libby’s Husband and where the song to raise funding for Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer will be launched in March 2021.
Cure Our Ovarian Cancer is a website full of support and information for women living with Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer which is a rare type of Ovarian Cancer.

Disclaimer: Each story in this Podcast is unique to the woman who is telling it. The content of each episode and the views expressed are not meant to be a substitute for medical advice or intervention. You will hear stories of women who sought alternative therapies, integrated oncology services or even choosing to decline treatment options. However, this is their story, and I am not advocating that you follow the path of any one woman who features in the podcast. If you have a diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer, please make sure that you discuss anything that is going to affect your treatment or wellbeing with your own Medical team. You are unique and so what’s right for one woman may not be right for you!
