The Socially Relevant Film Festival was founded by Actress/Filmmaker Nora Armani as a response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling in media and entertainment. S.R.F.F believes in the power of film, raising awareness of social issues and promoting positive social change. This year the ninth edition of SR Socially Relevant™ Film Festival NY is a hybrid festival with in-person and online film screenings. This new edition will deal with topics such as: Climate Change and Women, Immigration and Refugees, Empowering Women, Indigenous Peoples’ Rights, LGBTQ Rights, Genocide and Holocaust, Youth and Children, Disability, Incarceration and Freedom, Politics and Social Equality, Sex Trafficking, Racism, BIPOC cultures and colorism, and Life during COVID.
