Political officials have described the series of clashes over the past few days that spurred international criticism of Israel as a “crisis atmosphere.”

The worst clash occurred vis-à-vis the Biden administration. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman summoned Mike Herzog, Israel’s ambassador to Washington, for a reprimand following the repeal of parts of the disengagement law.

It was the first time in 13 years that an Israeli ambassador to the US has been reprimanded.

Reporter Mark Weiss spoke with former ambassador to the US, Danny Ayalon, about the tense bilateral relations between Jerusalem and Washington.
