When you're really present in the moment, whether it's a holiday or not, your thoughts don't get consumed with food even though there's a lot around. Whether there's cake, pizza, turkey, or whatever. To you, food is just food, and it isn’t connected to feelings of guilt, shame and regret. That's what you call food freedom. In today's episode of Full and Thriving: An Eating Disorder Recovery Podcast, Sammy Previte RD, LDN, CPT talks about what intuitive eating is about, how you can fight diet culture during the holidays, what you need to keep in mind regarding people who love to make comments about other people's body and diet, and the tips that can help you react better to unsolicited comments about your eating habit. How do you really respond to unsolicited comments about your body? In different places, restrictions are now being loosened. Because of this, some activities are becoming more regular compared to during the lockdown. So what does that mean? Having to show up again. And if we're to really admit — that can definitely make us conscious. In this situation, role-playing and awareness can help. First, role-play the situations wherein people may make comments about your body. By doing so, you put yourself in a scene where you will have to respond. Now, how would you want to answer? Next, be aware that you can also react without being emotional. If that's unlikely, walking away can be an option. Whatever is the case, it helps to remember that whatever someone says about your body has everything to do with their relationship with theirs and nothing to do with yours.Find out how Sammy Previte decides when to walk away in this episode of Full and Thriving: An Eating Disorder Recovery Podcast!About Sammy Previte RD, LDN, CPT:Sammy is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, Certified Personal Trainer, owner of Find Food Freedom, co-host of What The Actual Fork Podcast, and host of the Find Food Freedom Podcast!Sammy enjoys working with all different populations.
