The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” John 14:17 (NLT) 1. Comes After Us “But you know him, because he lives with you now…” “The Spirit will help you and will tell you about me.” John 15:26 (CEV) "And when he (The Holy Spirit) comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment." John 16:8 (NLT) 2. Comes Inside Us “But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NLT) 3. Comes Upon Us “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere…” Acts 1:8 (NLT) “On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.
