Danny Iny is the founder and CEO of Mirasee, a company that helps people launch successful online courses. He’s also the author of multiple best-selling books, including “Effortless” and his most recent release, “Online Courses” which is linked below. Danny started his entrepreneurial journey at a young age and stumbled along his path to success. Failing at a business venture and dealing with the financial fallout is also a very emotional experience, much like going through a breakup. It takes time to want to get back out there and start something new, but sometimes the rebound winds up being “the one”. Hitting bottom is a rite of passage, and failure is only failure if it’s the last thing that happens. Otherwise, it’s just a plot twist.
Online courses are a huge opportunity for transformation, and a great companion to a book. Even the biggest authors out there today don’t make most of their money off royalties. The big names generate revenue from things like licensing and speaking. Your book is often a doorway, and not the heavy lever of income or transformation. Books are great at expanding people’s horizons and integration, but a course is much better at imparting competence. A course is the perfect companion to a non-fiction book to go deeper. Two of the biggest mistakes people make when creating a course are thinking of it as an afterthought and thinking that the course should simply be a video version of your book. For a course to carry impactful transformation, it should be highly engaging.
The best way to develop a course is to co-create it with your audience by running a pilot. You can test your ideas before your book comes out, and the feedback you receive can help you both develop a successful course and write the perfect book to go along with it. A good length for a course is four to six weeks and you should focus on the minimum viable outcome. Remember, people are paying you for the years you spent learning the skill you are teaching, not from creating the actual course – it’s the expertise that’s valuable.
What’s Inside:

  • Why you should think of your course before writing your book.
  • How to create a pilot course to test your idea.
  • The three steps in the process of learning and how it can help you create your course.
