Whether it's uppers or downers, dopamine or serotonin promoters, or opioid painkillers, they generate a lot of massive profits for the drug companies, but not much joy for the patient who faces addiction, a worsening of their physical health, and shortening of their lifespan. It is a pharmaceutical business model based on maintaining disease, not eliminating it. Isn't it time now that we used our sophisticated technologies to develop better diagnostic systems and treatment protocols that focus on pathology of brain function, as in neurobiology?
