What she found will blow your wig back and might be better to leave it there. In this segment, Ila leads an interview with Dr. Jessica Helm of the Silent Spring Institute, who spent several years studying the effects of toxic chemicals found in hair products marketed to African American women. Many of the chemicals found in these products are banned by the EU and regulated by the state of California. The study found high concentrations of these chemicals in black women who were already showing adverse health conditions associated with these chemicals, namely asthma, fibrosis and other hormone-related health issues, including infertility.
